My mission for the day was to deliver the check for a $5,000 donation to the Burn Center at Staten Island University Hospital from the sale of the NYC Firefighters Calendar. So I took the ferry to Staten Island, and then a train to get to the hospital. I’ve been making the calendar for 24 years, and so far have raised nearly $750,000 for the Burn Center and also the Fire Safety Education Fund.

Battman
Alan Batt, better known in the culinary world as simply Battman, began his career as a photographer in 1981 shooting photos of city scenes and landmark sites of New York City. He began taking food photography in 2001, and has since become one of New York City's most recognizable culinary personalities. Battman is often seen riding his bicycle up and down the streets of Manhattan as he travels to and from photo shoots and meetings with the chefs.
