So I get to Cafe Des Artiste (it’s 2004 and I’m working on my first book “The Great Bagels & Lox Book) and Chef Ari Neiminen is waiting for me. He’s been looking forward to surprising me for weeks. He introduces me to his manager’s girlfriend (I can’t remember her name) and she proceeds to take off as many pieces of clothing as possible without putting the book in jeopardy. The lady climbs up on the bar and lies down. Chef Ari goes to the kitchen and returned with all the ingredients needed for an authentic New York Bagel & Lox……only in New York and no, we didn’t eat the sandwich after the shoot.
