Outstanding in the Field at Brooklyn Grange
September 18 @ 4:00 pm
Outstanding in the Field is a roving culinary adventure – literally a restaurant without walls. Its mission is to re-connect diners to the land and the origins of their food, and to honor the local farmers and food artisans who cultivate it. Next stop on its 2018 tour…Brooklyn Grange at the Navy Yard.
Listing below as per organizer:
Host Farmers: Ben Flanner & Anastasia Cole-Plakias, Brooklyn Grange at the Navy Yard, Brooklyn, NY
Guest Chef: Neal Harden, abcV, New York, NY
A plant-based feast on a plant-based roof. It’s hard to believe such a big, beautiful, productive farm exists on a roof — 65,000 square feet (1.5 acres), towering 12 stories over the East River. Brooklyn Grange is a pioneer in urban rooftop farming. The farm was installed in 2012 with diversified crops, fruits and flowers, and now serves a successful CSA and many restaurant partnerships. abcV is Jean-Georges Vongerichten’s new vegan/vegetarian restaurant inside ABC Carpet & Home. Chef Neal Harden has been vegan since he was 14. His cuisine has received acclaim from Vogue, Bon Appetit, Food & Wine and two stars from the New York Times. Chef Neal will find everything he needs for the table after pressing 12 on the elevator.
Tickets to this Outstanding in the Field dinner is $265 per person, which includes a reception with wine, beverages and passed appetizers, a farm tour, seated courses with wine pairings, and all gratuities.
