The 5th annual Harlem EatUp!, the week-long festival celebrating the food, culture and spirit of Harlem, returns on May 13th to the 19th with more than 50 chefs and restaurants. Harlem EatUp! will again host a variety of events featuring notable Harlem-based and national talent – from the culinary, fine and musical arts. From The Ultimate Grand Tasting and The Marketplace at The Harlem Stroll to the Dine In Dinner Series, this festival will represent the renewed spirit of Harlem while paying homage to its roots.
Participating local chefs include Adrienne Cheatham, JJ Johnson, Yvette Leeper-Bueno, Jelena Pasic, Marcus Samulesson, Carlos Swepson, Kenichi Tajima, Mimi Weissenborn, and Melba Wilson. Visiting chefs include Daniel Boulud, Anne Burrell, Leah Cohen, Scott Conan, Amanda Freitag, Carla Hall, Kwame Onwuach, Marc Vetri, and Andrew Zimmern just to name a few.
Schedule of Events:
• Dine In Harlem Series – Harlem restaurants pair up with acclaimed chefs from across the country to collaborate on multi-course menus showcasing the unique feel of Harlem’s culinary landscape. May 13th-18th. Tickets range from $85 to $250.
• The Annual Harlem EatUp! Luminary Award Dinner – Established to recognize culinary, art and cultural leaders of Harlem, the Luminary Award will celebrate Lana Turner, Madam C. J. Walker, and The Honorable David N. Dinkins. For this night of Harlem excellence, Harlem EatUp! co-founder Marcus Samuelsson welcomes two outstanding guest chefs – Michelin starred executive chef, Emma Bengtsson of Aquavit, and partner and executive chef Mashama Bailey of The Grey in Savannah Georgia. May 16th, 6:30 PM – 9:30 PM at Red Rooster Harlem. Tickets: $250
• The Ultimate Grand Tasting – A feast of unlimited signature bites from more than 20 of Harlem’s best restaurants plus samples of wine, beer and spirits, with live music, DJ and dancing. May 18th-19th, 12:30pm-5:30pm daily. Tickets: $85
• Marketplace at The Harlem Stroll – Two days of fun in Morningside Park featuring a pay-as-you-go selection of good eats from notable Harlem restaurants and food vendors at the Marketplace, a wine and beer garden, Kids’ Zone, and cooking demos and musical performances on The EatUp! Main Stage. May 18-19, 12:00pm-5:30pm daily. Free Admission. The optional $25 Marketplace Package, available for purchase on site, lets you taste curated food and beverage from Marketplace vendors.
As part of its mission and dedication to Harlem, the festival’s net proceeds will be donated to City Meals on Wheels, Harlem EatUp! Foundation, Harlem Park to Park and Historic Harlem Parks.
