Burns Week at Jones Wood Foundry
January 24 - January 31
Tap into your inner Scot January 24 – 31 and honor the Scottish national poet who penned Auld Lang Syne with a special homage to Robert Burns offering – Haggis, Neeps & Tatties (crushed rutabagas and mashed potatoes). During Burns Week at Jones Wood Foundry, it’s just $29 for heaping helpings of the Scottish favorites that will inspire the recitation of Burns’s immortal Address to a Haggis!
For the Burns Week haggis, the food driven pub’s chef / owner Jason Hicks turned to his old friend Andrew Hamilton, owner of the Scottish Gourmet [www.scottishgourmetusa.com]. The Isle of Arran born and Ayrshire raised Hamilton makes what Hicks considers the best haggis – by far – he’s ever eaten, made according to a recipe that has been handed down in Hamilton’s family for generation. Because it’s illegal to important authentic haggis from Scotland, despite its fame as what Burns described as the “the great chieftain o’ the puddin race” haggis seldom appears on menus in the U.S. except for one night a year, January 25, when the poet’s birthday is celebrated.
At Jones Wood Foundry, haggis season 2019 is being extended by the Robert Burns special being available for eight nights for dinner starting at 5 pm.
Reservations for the special are necessary – call 212-249-2700 and state the desire to order the Burns Special.
