9th Annual Food Almanac
February 19 @ 6:00 pm - 8:30 pm$15
Slow Food NYC, continuing a Food Systems Network NYC tradition, will host the 9th annual Food Almanac, a food and farming prognostication inspired by the Farmers’ Almanac. This year, the focus of conversation will be on Immigration in the Food Chain. In keeping with their mission of Good, Clean, and Fair for all, the folks from Slow Food, along with the Almanac Panel, will converse about those that keep our food chain running: farmworkers, food processing and manufacturing laborers, and restaurant workers, and the policies and practices that often exploit them.
The Almanac will be held at GrowNYC Project Farmhouse and will be led by Rodrigo Camarena, Director of Immigration Advocates Network, Gabriela Pereyra, Manager of the GrowNYC Beginning Farmer Program, Yajaira Saavedra, Activist and Owner of La Morada, and Gabriel Morales, Program Director of Brandworkers. The panel will be moderated by chef, Peter Hoffman.
Admission is $15 and includes local seasonal snacks and beverages including kombucha and cider. Donations benefit Urban Harvest, the Slow Food NYC program of good food education for New York City children at 11 schools around the City and on a tuition-free, educational, urban farm in East New York, Brooklyn.
