18th Annual Egg Rolls, Egg Creams and Empanadas Festival
June 17 @ 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm
On Sunday, June 17th from noon to 4 pm, the Museum at Eldridge Street will host its 18th annual Egg Rolls, Egg Creams and Empanadas festival, a block party celebrating the diverse ethnic communities of the Lower East Side. The Museum’s annual cross-cultural event began almost two decades ago as a celebration of Jewish and Chinese culture in the neighborhood. Since its inception, it has expanded to include the food, music and folk arts of the area’s Puerto Rican community as well.
Enjoy kreplach, dumpling and empanada making demonstrations; Chinese opera, klezmer and salsa and plena music; Yiddish, Mandarin and Spanish lessons; Hebrew and Chinese scribal art, Puerto Rican mask making, mah jongg and, true to the festival’s name, kosher egg rolls, classic New York–style egg creams and empanadas will also be in abundance.
