I attended the annual meeting for the MCF-USA (Master Chefs of France) to make my presentation for the upcoming cookbook that I worked on with the 77 chefs in North America. I spent the 4 days at the Grand Velas Riviera Maya, Mexico. Except for the almost constant rain for 4 days, all was good. Every space in this resort was huge with 50, 60, 70 foot ceilings. The food was all good and plenty of it with a banquet every night. One night we went to XCARET MEXICO, an amusement park, and saw a really impressive 2 hour show with 100 performers. On the day before I left I went to “Fifth Avenue” in the rain. It’s a place for tourists (about 15 blocks long) with souvenir shops, massage parlors and a lot of Italian and Asian Restaurants. It wasn’t easy finding a place that had tacos,  after all I was in Mexico and wanted to eat Mexican. While walking down the street a young guy came over to me and said “hi, I was your waiter last night at Grand Velas”. He was working at his mother’s shop and I should come and check it out. I decline. A couple of minutes later another guy comes up to me with the same story, waiter at my hotel and working in his mother’s store. Then a 3rd time with the same story. The working at their mothers store was a little suspicious but they knew I was at the Grand Velas Hotel. It wasn’t until the next day I realized that the umbrella I was using had the name of the hotel on it.

The cookbook “Master Chefs of France” will be out in September. You can see some of the photos in the shop on this site.[/vc_column_text][vc_gallery images=”852178,852177,852176,852175,852174,852173,852172,852171,852170,852169,852168,852167,852166,852165,852164,852163,852161,852160,852159″ img_size=”full”][/vc_column][/vc_row]
