Justin Snyder: 60 Hours and Still Inking

Justin Snyder

“The best part of getting the tattoo is the adrenaline rush you get. It is a good escape from reality. Working so many hours in the industry it is always nice to get away for a couple of hours. Currently I work 70+ hours a week so that tattoo session is a mini vacation.

“My right arm is dedicated to all my pastry work. The Cookie Monster, Oompa-Loompa, rolling pin and dough, and the blowtorch took a total of 19.5 hours of work so far and 4 sessions. I still have another 3 or 4 hours to go until it is complete, then I can start on my hand. My right sleeve was the first of my culinary tattoos.

“My left arm, which is my savory side arm, has about 20 hours of work now total of 4 sessions. I have the cleaver and the chef skull with two knives, and ‘time is money’ scripted on the side of my left hand.

“My stomach with ‘Chef Life’ was only one session at 3 hours.

“My tattoo artist is Marlin D at North Park Tattoo Parlour. He has done all of my work. I have a total of 60+ hours of tattoo work right now: both arms, left side, chest, stomach, and working on my whole back piece right now.”
